Schedule: 40 hours/week

Duration: 3–6 months

Compensation: Approximately $55 per hour

What the Role Involves

As the Library Director, you’ll provide visionary leadership and manage all facets of library operations. Responsibilities include:

• Strategic planning, budgeting, and policy development
• Overseeing staffing, recruitment, and performance evaluation
• Leading collection development, programming, and community engagement
• Ensuring daily operations, facilities oversight, and public services run smoothly
• Reporting to and collaborating with the Board, preparing reports and updates
• Advocating for the library within municipal and regional networks

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

• A Master’s in Library/Information Science (ALA-accredited)
• Significant experience in library administration, including budget and personnel management
• A track record of strategic leadership, community outreach, and partnering with governance bodies
• Strong familiarity with public library operations and standards common across NJ, as defined in NJLA roles
