Skilled Shipyard Helper (San Diego, CA)

Lead Marine San Diego

National City, CA, USA

 

Full Time

$17.25 - $19.50/hr

1st Shift – 6:00am to 2:30pm

2nd Shift - 3:00pm to 11:30pm

3rd Shift - 10:00pm to 6:00am

 

Lead Marine is currently hiring skilled helpers for long term work in the San Diego Shipyard Industry . This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door to major defense contracting companies, and learn on the job skills that could turn into a career. All three shifts needed.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Identifies and removes potential fire hazards in hot work area.
  • Assists with moving materials, welding equipment and cleans up when necessary.
  • Remains alert for extended periods of time.
  • In the event of fire, follows proper fire extinguishing procedure to extinguish and prevent spreading of fire.
  • Stops operations if any other hazardous conditions arise.
  • Communicates effectively with co-workers and management alike.
  • Other duties as may be assigned, such as needle gunning, paint removal, using power tools & hand tools, ect.
  • General laborer and clean up duties
  • Work will vary depending on department (Electrical, Machinist, Sheet metal, Insulation, Carpentry, Painting, Rigging, etc.)

 

Environmental Factors / Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to perform these as well as Essential Function(s) with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to safety or health of employee or others.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain firewatch training certification
  • Work in a wide variety of environments, conditions, and/or situations; including:
  • Small and/or confined spaces.
  • At heights of 20 feet or more.
  • Routinely bending, twisting, kneeling climbing and reaching for 1-12 hours per day.
  • Sitting, standing, and/or walking for 1-12 hours per day.
  • Enduring noise, fumes, dust, and inclement weather.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 1-50lbs throughout the day.
