MR. BARNABAS W. KAPANGE

Mr. Kapange is a free-lance consultant in information and knowledge management. As a public employee, he lastly served as a Senior Programme Manager – Information and Communication Services with the Plant Genetic Resources Centre of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) During tenure of position with SADC, he underwent trainings in network management, data analysis, social media applications and published in international conferences (World Information Technology Forum WITFOR, in the Magazine on Low External Input and Sustainable Agriculture LEISA Netherlands, and in the Journal for Agricultural Information Specialists – IAALD). He previously served in the Tanzanian Civil Service as a an Extension Officer then Agricultural Mechanization Officer (1978-1982); Senior Agricultural Tutor (1991) and Senior Agricultural Research Officer (1991-2005) at the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters; and later on redeployed in March 2005 to become the Senior Information and Communications Specialist for the IFAD-World Bank funded Agricultural Services Support Programme (ASSP), based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania until May 2006 when he left to join SPGRC. Kapange holds a Master’s degree in Library & Information Sciences, graduated from the University of Alberta (Canada) in 2000. He also has an MSc in Agriculture, graduated from the Moldova State Agricultural Institute in 1989
